Preventive measures on campus for ASF
Activation of the contingency plan for African Swine Fever (ASF) and campus measures
The Government of Catalonia has activated the contingency plan after confirming the presence of African Swine Fever (ASF) in wild boars found dead in the natural areas of Cerdanyola del Vallès. Due to the possibility of boars approaching the campus or nearby zones, all planned activities in natural areas are cancelled, including field trips, walks, and similar activities in adjacent forests and farmlands. Movement within the urbanised campus areas is not affected.
How to act if you encounter a wild boar
-
Do not touch or handle any animal, whether alive or dead.
-
Immediately alert the Rural Agents (112) and the Campus Security Service (93 581 25 25).
-
Keep a safe distance and avoid taking photos or videos.
-
Always keep dogs on a leash.
Rural Agents and police services may be present around the campus in the coming hours. The University will inform the community of any relevant updates.
Preventive measures on campus
Following the instructions of the Department of Agriculture:
-
❌ Access to natural areas for leisure activities is prohibited.
-
⚠️ Containment measures include reinforced waste-bin management, avoiding access to food leftovers, limiting or closing picnic areas, and avoiding green areas where wild boars are commonly present.
Postponement of activities
The UAB Race in support of La Marató de TV3, scheduled for 14 December, is postponed until after Christmas.
Everyone’s safety is the priority.
