Contingency plan activated due to detection of African swine fever in Cerdanyola del Vallès
The Government of Catalonia has activated the contingency plan after confirming the presence of the African swine fever (ASF) virus in wild boars found dead in the natural areas of Cerdanyola del Vallès.
Due to the possible presence of wild boars on or near campus, all activities scheduled in natural areas are suspended (forests and agricultural land adjacent to campus). This means that field trips, walks, and similar activities cannot be carried out in these spaces, including those organized by university units or services.
Movement within the urbanised areas of the campus is not affected.
How to act if you encounter a wild boar
Civil Protection services remind the community to follow these guidelines:
-
Do not touch or handle any animal, whether alive or dead.
-
Immediately notify the Rural Agents (tel. 112) and the Security and Surveillance Service (93 581 25 25).
-
Keep a safe distance and avoid approaching to take photos or videos.
-
If walking with a dog, always keep it on a leash.
In the coming hours, Rural Agents and police services may be present around the campus as part of the planned operation. The University remains in close contact with the responsible authorities and will keep the university community informed of any relevant updates.
